About Us
VAUX has been a beloved name in Sunderland for almost 200 years. From the earliest incarnation of 'C. Vaux & Sons' in 1837 right through to the 1990's, the brewery was an important part of city life in Sunderland until its closure in 1999.
Having relaunched this iconic brand in 2019 we opened our Monk Street brewery & taproom in 2021. Open Friday & Saturday 12pm-10pm (plus special events and private functions), our taproom features 10 keg lines and 2 cask plus a range of bottles, cans, spirits, wine and cider as well as soft drinks and non-alcoholic options.

We have a range of 4 core beers and regularly brew specials and seasonals as well as collaborations with other breweries from across the UK.

German Pilsner 4.2% ABV
Black Wave - Oatmeal Stout 5% ABV
A Hazy Shade of Citra - DDH Pale 5.3% ABV
Freddy's Drop - NZ Session IPA 4.3% ABV
